what do i need for toddlers harem pants edging?

my daugher wants me to make her son some harem pants. i have the main fabric but don't know what to get for the waistband/leg cuffs. i know it's some sort of stretchy ribbed edging but not sure of the name or of the width i need. any suggestions please?

    I presume you mean tubular rib cuff.
    Would you not just be able to turn in the hems and use elastic? The problem is that you probably need different rib for waist and cuffs- I'm thinking expense. I am also thinking they are best attached with an overlocker.

    the toddler concerned is rather "sturdy" and so i thought the ribbed edging might be more comfortable.i have just bought an overlocker and have an experienced sewer to help me with this.thanks very much
