nations are poor until they develop.
China is has left the poverty period and India is leaving it. Africa will be the last but it will develop too one day hopefully sooner rather than later.0 -
I think the key to good development is 1) peace, and 2) good transport - railways transformed the UK and USA, China is trying to put railways in, hopefully the peaceful areas of Africa will radiate development, and as Monet flows via globalisation, wages there will increaseThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. My mother is 90 and she can remember the begging bowl coming around for Africa at her school 80 years ago.
Nothing has really changed.0 -
The situation in large parts of Africa is far better than it was 30 years ago.
Aid works.0 -
I watched a documentary about population a few weeks ago by Professor Hans Rosling, i think it's a few year old now but the stuff is still very true
One the the points he made is that to us in the west, the difference between someone living on $1 a day and $10 a day seem fairly trivial, they both seem just incredibly poor, but in fact the differences are enormous. There have been massive improvements in africa it's just hard for us to see.0 -

Aid works.
In 2002 8% of the population in Ghana owned a mobile phone. In 2014 it was 83%. Something works.

China might have something to do with that.Proudly voted remain. A global union of countries is the only way to commit global capital to the rule of law.0 -
If anyone is really interested in the topic of development I am currently taking this course run by a Nobel Prize winner:

It's free and requires about 30 hours of your time in total.0
