Hi
I'm currently running vista but wish to upgrade to windows 10 as vista is running slow.
I wish to buy a windows 10 dvd and product key so I can resell it if I think I need a new comp which will already have it installed
Does anyone know where I can buy windows 10 dvd for a good price?
Keep seeing oem's which I think one installed I can't resell if I choose a new comp instead

win 10 £100 outright
win 7 or 8 licence key on ebay etc £40 and then get free upgrade ,
hav,nt looked at win 10 retail , and am not sure if you will be able to reinstall on another machine
I am beginning to see (work on) machines that are running win 10 and have been "patched" successfully after there owners had bent copies of win 7 and 8 installed , or they had legitimate copies but did a clean install rather than the upgrade first0 -

You should check if a machine of that vintage can run Windows 10; many suppliers of old video/sound/internet cards don't provide the necessary drivers.0 -
Windows 8 (note not 8.1) upgrade assistant will give a good indication of upgradeability...

(alternative path to W10 from Vista:- upgrade to Windows 8 Pro then W10).0 -
If you do go the Win 7/8 then upgrade route, be careful getting licence keys from ebay - some are fine, but others are not legit and some don't even work.0

Here you go
Windows 10 retail edition (pro version)

If you want to move the install to a new machine at a later stage you need the retail rather than the OEM edition which is restricted to the first and sole install only.0 -
Moneysaving - back everything up, resinstall/restore Vista. As has been said, your computer is pretty old if it's running Vista. Save towards a new computer which will come with W10. And yes, you're right that Retail copies can jump computers whereas OEM ones aren't allowed to. Buying Windows 7 or 8 and upgrading them for free within the next few months to 10 would also save money if you want to upgrade.0

Buy Windows 7 for as little as £28

And then Window 10 will be FREE from Microsoft.0 -
Obviously not all hardware configurations are the same, but I've successfully installed Windows 10 on a number of different computers from the Vista era.0

Why do you think Windows 10 will run faster?
The main reason people report it to be faster is that there is a shorter time to getting an initial screen but it is still working through startup in the background. Once up and running ime Windows 10 is no faster that W8.1 or W7 was on the machines I installed it.
Probably a restore to original would make your current machine faster. Certainly an SSD which wouldn't cost a lot more and would be transferable would.
That said I found Vista to be so dire I bought a copy of Windows 7 at the time to replace it on the laptop I'd bought which came with it.0
