Car Insurance: New Car Upgraded 17" Alloys Factory Fitted

Hi

For insurance, if I choose upgraded 17" alloys that are factory fitted by VW. Would this be classed as modified on insurance? Basically say someone steals the alloys, how would I be covered to get the same ones back and not the 16" ones that are standard.

Thanks

Check with your insurer - most consider factory fitted extras as modifications.

I had one insurer ask if the car had any factory fitted options, It was a 5 year old car how the average buyer know the exact spec and what was a factory option?

If they are not standard you need to mention it to them, keep a copy of that also.

Try a car club insurance scheme where a simple thing like optional wheels wont bother them at all.
