Problems with final bill after switching supplier

Options
I recently bought a property, the gas supplier was npower, the elec was edf, i've had problems with npower in the past, so i decided to switch the gas to edf

So edf issued npower a final meter reading based on an estimate, this estimate was far too high as the place has been empty and then a building site. Npower issued me a final bill of £415, I spoke to them and they said edf needed to send them an accurate final reading

Now after 3 months and many hours on the phone, its got to the point where edf has said they have twice sent something called a "flow email" over to Npower and also after i pushed them, called npower to agree the final meter reading 'verbally' over the phone

Problem is that Npower deny that this call ever occured and that they are waiting for edf to update some kind of database which is used by suppliers.

I'm not sure how to proceed, does anyone know the normal procedure for switching? is it done by flow email? or updating a database?

Thanks in advance

why was it based on an estimate - didn't you read the meter and give them the reading when you moved in or took possession. If so that's the one they should use, not some fictitious estimate.
Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers
  • Yes i gave them a reading when i purchased, which they have on record, but when i switched was about 4 months later, which is when they estimated

I wish they would have just asked me for an accurate reading
