Advent 9515 full destructive recovery - no internet

I have just done a full destructive recovery and https://www.knowhow.com came up on IE but when I open another page and try a search or try to connect to another web page it says "IE cannot display the webpage."

Diagnose then reports that " Windows did not find any problems with this computer's network"

The Knowhow website works perfectly -

https://www.knowhow.com/

I have switched my router on and off and it is still the same.

About 80 updates were needed, some failed, so started again and at the moment it says " installing update 1 of 58"

Any ideas please?

Thanks,

Fortyfoot

Assuming I have done it right, black screen white text, about 15 lines, "packets sent 4, received 4 lost = 0"

Ok, so you do actually have an internet connection.

Now please open internet explorer and type in the address bar

    https:\\https://www.google.com

exactly like that (don't forget the s)
    See if it connects

    Thanks for the reply AndyPix.

I found the IE was out of date and would not work, so I downloaded Firefox onto my other laptop and transfered by pendrive. I then downloaded Chrome via Firefox.

No way would IE let me update through the connection I had. Chrome would not download to my "other" laptop as it was already on.

I had to try a few download sites before I got one to work.

Thanks again AndyPix for your quick reply.
