Waiting Anxiously

Options

After several years I have decided to get my head out of the sand and try and sort out my finances. I have not had a credit card for approx. 6 years due to a failed business venture round about that time.
I have got copies of my credit report from both Experian & Equifax and they don't look to bad.
Thing is, I want to take on my bank for the reclaim of interest charges, because despite trying to negotiate, they are taking a hard line (I lost it with them when they cancelled a direct debit for £3.34) and charged me £38.00 for the privilege!! Trouble is I have an o/draft of £2,500.00 and I can see them telling me to take my account else where so just want to be ready.
Have applied for 2 credit cards (Capital one & Barclaycard) both done on line last Sunday & Monday respectively. Have not heard any thing back yet (so don't know if I have been rejected).
Does any one know hoe long it normally takes to get an answer?
You can probably tell this is the first time I have logged on to a forum!
Thanks.
