Advice On A Default?

Hi all.
Thanks for reading, I am currently going for a mortgage but there is a default that is going to effect me that I have off Lowells from an old phone contact I thought was taken care of. I went away travelling for 3 years in Australia and had a international payment going into my account at home, or so I thought. It wasn't going in but I wasn't aware. I know it's my fault for not checking, but I just persumed everything was good. I've come home and started saving and still was unaware until I've checked my credit file the other day. I've contacted them and started to pay it off (£450).
Is there any way of me getting this deleted off my credit score? My file is okay apart from this default, I'm absolutely gutted to find its gonna take me 6 years to even have a chance.
Sorry to bore everyone with my life story's ha! Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
I have already emailed them, I will post the email below:
My email to them:
Hello,
I am currently paying off a debt with you and trying to clear up my credit after going travelling and payments obviously not being made to Three due to a couple of problems with international transfers coming from Australia. Now I am back and trying to get everything paid off and back to normal as it's completely wrecked my credit, which is causing serious distress.
I am writing to you to request a deletion of the default off Lowell on my credit file once I have repaid what I owe. I aim to do this a quick as possible with adding any extra money I have towards paying this off. It would be eternally grateful if you could assist me in this quiery.

Unfortunately, we are unable to remove details of defaults as we are required to reflect true and accurate information on how your account has been conducted.
We are required to show this information for 6 years from the date of default, the information will not be removed from your credit file but we have once the account has been repaid your file to show as satisfied with a zero balance.
Your credit file will also be updated once a month to show the current balance as you are making payment to this account.
Kind Regards,

I thought as much. I was just clinging onto some hope someone would have an alternative.
The date of the default is 2012. Does that mean it drops off in 2018? Even though I've only just started paying it?0 -
Yes, all trace of the default and account will go 6 years from the initial recorded default date, no matter when it being or been paid off.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB
