Help with Credit Card CCJ and PPI

Hi

I've just had a call about a credit card that I'm owed PPI on. The only credit card I have from my history is one I incurred a CCJ on when I defaulted in around 2006.

This got me thinking. the CCJ is now off my record as far as I can see on creditexpert. However I am still paying a court fee of £41 a month (£1 administration). I have called the courts to understand how much is owing and when I will be cleared but unfortunately I do not have a reference. They were less than helpful.

The problem is I cannot remember who I had the credit card with. ( I think it may be Mint)

I have googled and apparently I can pay to find out who the CCJ is with and how much is owing. Turns out the companys don't always tell the courts and I could be paying this debt forever? I need to know who the debt is with? How much is owing? and when my final payment will be?

Can I do this for free? and then after I have this information can I then claim back PPI on a credit card that has only ever had payments made through a CCJ and where I believe the interest was frozen?

I am now in control of all my finances and my credit rating has improved but this is one thing I would love to understand and get sorted and it now concerns me that the lenders may never tell the court that this debt has been repaid and I have already been paying this debt for nearly ten years!

Any help you could provide would be really appreciated.

thanks

Who called you? Only the credit card provider can decide if you are owed a refund of contributions. Yet you say you don't know who the provider was. That suggests the call didnt come from them.

It should be noted that under no circumstances should you use a claims company. The card provider, if they agree with your complaint, can use the redress against the unpaid debt (which would help clear up the CCJ). However, a claims company would bill you against the full amount of the redress even if you didnt personally received the money as cash in hand.

Good to hear you are not using them. They lied to you in the call as you are not owed anything. However, as I mentioned, you shouldnt be using one in your case anyway.

I will have to leave the other bit of your question to others as I have no experience there.
