Balance Transfer Question

Quick question regarding balance transfers.
My wife has a 2K debt outstanding on her CC that we have been paying off for a while now and the 0% deal on her card ends in February.
She doesn't really want to apply for another 0% offer as she already has 2 other CC's(both with no balance) and we simply don't use them. Only reason we used this one was a for a big purchase because of the 0% offer.
I have a credit card with a 0% offer on it until next September.
Can you only do balance transfers between cards in the same name or could I transfer it to my card?
(Yes, I know by doing that it will effectively then become my debt and not hers should we ever break up but we're married with kids so 2K would be chicken feed compared to splitting all our other assets if it came to that!)

It depends on the card issuer, most do allow it some don't. I have done this very thing a couple of times, transferred my wife's balance to one of mine.0

it depends on the provider and how you do it. If online then it usually just asks for the 16 digit number to transfer the debt from, whereas over the phone they may ask for the name as well and then refuse if it isn't in your name.I’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Pensions, Annuities & Retirement Planning, Loans
