I prefer a variable direct debt which British Gas let me do.

I do have to do meter reading every month but that is a small price to pay for a correct bill and I know I'm always up to date with my payments and will never have under or over paid which often happens with a fixed direct debt.
  • I don't know why QVDD isn't more popular. If cash flow isn't an issue then it would suit people who insist they never want to be in credit.
Mixed Martial Arts is the greatest sport known to mankind and anyone who says it is 'a bar room brawl' has never trained in it and has no idea what they are talking about.

monthly fixed DD with a smart meter is good for me. The daily meter readings mean the bill predictor is accurate, and means the fixed DD can be updated to take account of any over/under payment or a lump sum can be withdrawn.
