I would ring them and find out where the debt is from and why they think you owe it. You may actually owe this money.
I think to just leave it and to just ignore it is a bad idea. It may only be £10.98, but some companies will still take further action for such a small amount.
Do you really want your credit record affecting for the sake of £10.98?
Ring them tomorrow. Get this sorted. Debts do NOT go away.
This will not appear on the OP's credit file.

I still think she should ring Westcott though, and find out what it is, and who she supposedly owes it to.
How can you be sure it isn't the sort of debt that is recorded?(•_•)

Ask the company for proof that you owe the money - but before you do, have a look in here (other MSEs have been there before):

Thank you Pennystretcher, I have looked at the links you posted and now remember that RHF Productions is the company that send me a similar letter a few years ago but I'm 99% sure I contacted them and it was resolved.
I will ring and write and ask for proof of the debt and also contact sky0 -

Only companies that hold consumer credit licences, and/or agreements covered by the consumer credit act, are recorded on your credit files.
For example, loans, credit cards, catalogue accounts, mobile phone contracts.
I believe certain utility bills, if unpaid after 60 days can also be recorded.
Debts for council tax, normal utility bills, eBay fees, phone bills, broadband/tv contracts etc etc are not recorded on your credit file.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards.
