Problem with laminate flooring laid by SCS fitters

We purchased laminate flooring (for hall) and carpet (for stairs and landing) from SCS. They arranged for their fitters to fit both, although appears to be same bunch, they were 2 different people who did laminate and carpet.
Paid £100 direct to chap who fitted laminate.
At first glance job appeared to be ok. But after he'd gone we noticed that it dipped in one place and was very springy and creaky there. He came back a few days later to fix doorplates. I mentioned the dip to him and he said it was because floor (concrete) was uneven and as it was floating floor it would be springy there.
Found a gap in laminate next to bottom stair where he'd cut a chunk out where he shouldn't have. Contacted him and he sent someone else too look at it. Rather than taking that piece out and replacing it, they cut the carpet on the bottom stair up, just below the lip on the stair, padded the front of the stair out with underlay, then stuck this piece of carpet back on! All they've done is cover the hole in the laminate and the new stair carpet there looks a complete mess as it's fraying round the top. I told him I wasn't happy but he said it was the best they could do!
I was going to complain to SCS but noticed on the contract it states that the fitters are self employed contractors and they're not liable for them.
I'm going to contact the laminate fitter explaining I'm not happy with the job, and as a professional fitter he should have checked the floor was level first.
But I'm not sure what to request from him now, e.g. take up the whole floor and level it himself, or should SCS have made sure they sold us the correct underlay? The salesman there didn't ask what sort of floor we had, he just added bog standard thin underlay to the order without checking with us. Can I go back to SCS and say what they sold us wasn't fit for purpose?
Is it possible to get an underlay that will stop the problem with the laminate dipping and creaking? Or should I expect the fitter to use some sort of levelling compound?
Thanks

Make an official complaint to SCS about the quality of work in Writing and let us know what they come back with.
I dont think the contractors bit will stick as they sub-contract to the shop and will pay to do so.I do Contracts, all day every day.0 -
Did SCS come to your home, measure up and see the floor or did you deal with them in the store? If they didn't come to your home did you inform them your floor wasn't level?0

Yes, a surveyor from SCS came out to measure the floor.
We didn't realise the floor was uneven. There was a carpet on it before and we never noticed it being uneven.0 -
Where did you sign the contract ?
In the shop or at home when the surveyor came out.I do Contracts, all day every day.0 -
Decent underlay will take care of minor imperfections and slight unevenness but if the floor was badly dipping it really should have been levelled first.
When we had laminate installed downstairs (QuickStep and fitted by a local independent), the job included levelling the timber subfloor in the middle of our lounge/dining room with flexible latex levelling compound and also screeding the entire hallway (half concrete half timber) which was covered in old tile adhesive.0 -
My husband signed the first contract in the shop. But then when the surveyor came out, I signed the cost and size confirmation document at home0
