Heard a whisper, although it was from a Halifax employee, that Yorkshire Bank are going to close approximately 40 more outlets.:rolleyes:

On top of that, they're going to try to get rid of credit cards.

Has anyone else heard the same?

(If this is in the wrong place can the BG move it please? I did look before posting it btw.)

Last weekend there was an article in the financial bit of mail on Sunday about Yorkshire bank intending to close branches. IIRC there was no mention of their credit card

National Australia Bank, owners of Yorkshire and Clydesdale Banks, have announced they are to close 100 branches in the UK. Clydesdale will lose 60 branches, Yorkshire will lose 40 branches. NAB wants to expand it's operations in the South East so it looks as if branches of these banks in the SE will be safe.

Oh, great!! It's annoying enough that they're only open from 9.15 to 4pm!!:mad:

Thanks Spendless and isasmurf. The whisper I heard was that they'd keep current credit card holders, but not take any new ones?

That doesn't make sense does it? But I probably wasn't paying enough attention.

And no idea spook - sorry. I'll read the link that isasmurf posted and check up later.

Bit of a so and so really. It's bad enough having to order the wages by fax etc. What happened to our friendly corner banks?
