Anyone left First Firect and got the £100?

Apologies if this has been asked before, tried searching but couldn't see anything pop up..

Just wondering if anyone has succesfully received £100 from First Direct when leaving them? It says if you don't like them within 12months you can leave and they'll give you £100. I'm thinking of switching account anyway, and reason I'm asking is I've read one post somewhere where someone received the £100 when leaving. They contacted First Direct to give their reason etc, and once they processed it they closed their account and so they couldn't end up switching to another account (to get a switching bonus/incentive). So just wondering if anyone has successfully switched from First Direct and also got the £100 and how they went about doing it?

Thanks!

See this thread, which starts with almost identical wording to yours and in turn links to another.

The gist is that there needs to be some reasonably genuine aspect of their service that plausibly causes you to leave in order to make a successful claim....
  • Thanks for that, that seems to be the thread I had previously seen lol

I genuinely have never liked their online banking. We initially switched for the £125 and good customer service results in polls. But compared to other online banking I use and have used, I think it's quite poor..

I'll contact them and say that and ask for the account not to be closed as I'll be switching and hope that works and they don't automatically close it.

You could leave the account £99 overdrawn and let them switch it.

The leaving credit would cancel out the overdraft and pay £1 into your new account.
