Is this a scam?

I'm at work and just got a message from my husband saying that he had spoken to a representative from a company called energy watch. They said we were paying too much on our (prepayment) electricity and gas, and that they would change us to a new company called e for both utilities, as this worked out cheaper and we would get an extra £50 per year. He has said yes to this, because it sounded like a good deal at the time I suppose? This all sounded highly suspicious to me, but a google has turned up very very little information, just a home page for each company.

Has anyone heard anything about either of these companies?

If you want to find a cheaper tariff there are plenty of legitimate sites out there where you can search for better deals.
  • daveyjp -That was always my plan, but I was concerned because it sounds like he has said yes to them, and I'm not sure either company really exists! I can't get the exact details until he's back at home

Dont do it. Manage your own switches and never sign up with anyone who cold calls whether on the phone ,at the door or in the high street.
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..

Never sign up to cold callers. How are they meant to know your usage or how much you pay. Always a scam I think like the ones that tell you they reviewed your financial situation (how?) and approved you for a loan. Let's just hope he didn't give them any personal or financial info.

    Good luck

  • He's been had, now your job is to make him admit it and cancel it.

Was this call to your home, or to your husband's business? If so, different rules apply.
