Apcoa parking charge notice - birminhgam airport - ibis hotel

Options
Just received a parking charge notice from APCOA Parking for £100 for alleged contravention of dropping off / picking up outside of a designated parking area at Birmingham airport - IBIS Hotel.
I have read the threads and posts on here but some are a bit confusing to someone like me who doesn't study law so can someone give me a step by step guide on firstly whether I should appeal as they have included three photos of the alleged incident and how to appeal so I don't end up worse off?
Any help would be greatly appreciated as I think something should be done about there private parking firms!!

Appeal as keeper using the NEWBIES thread template. Several recent APCOA Airport examples (Brum and Luton) around in recent weeks here, search this forum for 'APCOA Airport'. Copy what others have done.

Easy one to win... appeal ONLY as keeper, obviously.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

    Dear Sirs

    Re: PCN No. ....................

I challenge this 'PCN' as keeper of the car and I will complain to the landowner about the matter if it is not cancelled.

I believe that the signs were not seen/are ambiguous and the terms unclear to drivers before they park.

There will be no admissions as to who was driving and no assumptions can be drawn. You must either rely on the POFA 2012 and offer me a POPLA code, or cancel the charge.

{ADD TEXT HERE if you can attach a retailer receipt or Blue Badge: 'e.g. 'An occupant of the car is disabled...' or 'The driver was a genuine patron of xxxx' (retailer, hotel) or similar}.

I have kept proof of submission of this appeal and look forward to your reply.

    Yours faithfully,

First of all, have you checked that where you dropped off someone was actually a contravention area? Normally hotels even at airports can not function unless they have some sort of area for guests to get dropped off either by car or by taxi.

Yes - there may be a time restriction on how long you can park to unload, but don't go saying "I believe that the signs were not seen/are ambiguous and the terms unclear to drivers before they park." if you were in a permitted area.
  • it is a hotel drop off / pick up point but it was merely seconds that the alleged driver was there and you would have to stop to even read the signs

I do not understand, there is a clearly signed drop off zone between the Ibis and the Etap, did you not see it?

Then you contravened nothing! That should be the appeal point, not that you didn't see any signs (that implies you DID contravene their silly rules)

What is the point of a drop off point that you can't stop to drop people off at?????

But you need to be sure of your facts and I would check with Google Earth and the Hotel.
  • my point exactly mate!! apparently the drop off point is for hotel guests only but how do they distinguish who are hotel guests and who aren't as I'm sure the company issuing the parking charge don't have the list of guests at the hotel and also if its private land how can they even enforce such a stupid charge!!?

Appeal thusly, say no more than this.

The event did not occur, the driver stopped at a clearly signed drop off point to drop off a guest.
You never know how far you can go until you go too far.
  • the only problem is the person being dropped off was not a guest at the hotel, they were just getting dropped off for a matter of seconds to catch a plane! 38 seconds to be exact.

Stop concentrating on what happened. You already have your template and there was no reason to copy it from the Newbies thread to here. That's why it's in the sticky thread, so we don't get every person asking about what to write. I do hope you removed this:
