Laptop slow since joining homegroup on W10

Hi all,

Annoying problem with my laptop which I hope someone will know how to address.

Our set-up at home is a desktop PC and a laptop, both running Windows 10. Each connect wirelessly via BT Homehub. Both machines share music, videos, etc, with each other but recently the laptop stops for almost a minute when I click 'save as' to save my work in Publisher and when I try to open File Explorer to access folders.

The only thing I can think of that's changed is that both computers are now allocated to our homegroup using the password, whereas before they were just set up to share files without being part of a homegroup. Do you think this has caused the delay when opening/saving files and folders? My guess is that the laptop needs to index every possible location it can save to before opening the dialogue box and this now includes the folder on the other PC. Any thoughts on this? Thanks
In deep...
