Amazon - collectplus delivery?

Sorry if this is in the wrong place. I couldn't find a section for Amazon (sorry if I've just missed it).
I want to buy an item from Amazon but am worried it will arrive when my daughter is home and that will spoil the Christmas surprise (in case it doesn't come in a plain Amazon box). I am on livechat now asking if they can send it to a collectplus point instead, and I'm concerned they are giving me the wrong info.
They said just add the collectplus address to my account and send the item there - but I think if I do that it will just arrive at the collectplus point (so as far as Amazon are concerned it's delivered) but then the collectplus people won't have the relevant bar code and info to release the parcel to me.
Does anyone know how this is supposed to work please?

amazon locker? why not try that idea
hav,nt used collect plus for a while , but they used to deliver to local "spar " shops (collect plus) and the person that ordered it got an email and /or a txt with a number , you took this number and ID to the shop and they released it0 -
Amazon don't offer collect+ anymore, but you can have it delivered to an Amazon locker or post office.0

If it's an Amazon sold/fulfilled product (ie not Marketplace seller) you get a choice of delivery options. As above, lockers are an option as are any other address. Forget about Collect+ and look at other options. Amazon mostly use their own delivery network now.
Check the location of your nearest locker, there's a lot of them about..0 -
Thanks everyone.
I did a bit of googling and found the bit about collectplus no longer being used - bit worrying that the livechat agent didn't tell me this - and also advised me to add a collectplus address to my account.
I've had a quick look at pickup options, so I think that's a good option0 -

They may be getting confused with companies that take your mail in for you and send it on or let you collect is all when you are ready. Normally you just give their address with a reference number.0 -
