Oh dear, hope you feel better soon AOD0

Morning everyone.
It's calm outside though I have a feeling that it won't last long that way.
Yesterday I helped an elderly neighbour with an IT problem and then went into town for some shopping as the fridge was barren. I'm expecting some fresh venison this week from the estate so will need to make room in the freezer. As the rain poured down all day I wasn't able to go into the garden to clear up the mess left by the wind.
I managed to persuade OH to stay put but now we are expecting Hurricane Abigail to hit the Argyll coast tomorrow and Friday. I am flying down to London City airport on Friday afternoon so fingers crossed for it not being cancelled. It's the Dr Who festival!
It's so good to read your news TA. The whole thing will be exhausting for you both. Mr TA will be physically tired and you'll be emotionally drained. Think it's time for some 'sit and indulge yourselves' time.
Breakfast is porridge today. Once again I fancy macaroni cheese, must be the weather making me want comfort food. Mind you, yesterday I ate a big bag of especially lovely crisps for my tea.
Happy Wednesday to everyone.0 -
Good |Morning everyone grey and breezy again today and with some rain forecast for later on but I don't have too much to do outside and I do have a pile of ironing to tackle.
I had a giggle last night when DD1 who is a clear thinking lass at all times rang me with a little reflection on the new John Lewis Christmas advert she'd just seem on the TV. 'Ma' she said ' I wonder just what that little old man had done that was so bad he'd been banished to the moon?' followed closely by 'It's not scientifically accurate anyway, I'm pretty certain that helium balloons wouldn't actually work on the moon!' oh what a joy she is in my life!!! both my girls twigged to the power of advertising very early on in their young lives DD2 was 3 when she saw an ad for My Little Pony where the screen toys touched noses and love hearts appeared all round them, she got two of hers and touched noses and nothing happened, the scorn in the voice of a 3 year old when stating that people on the TV told fibs was a joy to the parental soul, she's still the same today I'm delighted to say!
Have yourselves a nice day all, Lyn xxx.0 -
Morning,(((((((((((((((((((((((((hugs)))))))))))))))))))) if you need one, the wind is whistling through the air vent they put in the sitting room, so its changed direction. Fine and just a bit of sun for the solar panels on the roof.
Much better night last night, but I was doped up, determined to get sleep somehow, late waking this morning, but nothing spoiling so thats fine.
OH is going to plant the garlic whilst its fine, it has been sitting in my fridge for weeks now. I have no plans, maybe some sewing, I have mats to finish.0 -
Morning all,
weather not too bad here but i hear it will change later... i must get out into the garden before the weather changes to clean up after the dogs.
TA Good to hear from you, glad to hear Mr TA's treatment went well.
Hester, i am glad you have other people fighting in FIL's corner. It takes some of the stress off you.
AOD i hope you feel better soon. I guess a day off work wont hurt.I had a giggle last night when DD1 who is a clear thinking lass at all times rang me with a little reflection on the new John Lewis Christmas advert she'd just seem on the TV. 'Ma' she said ' I wonder just what that little old man had done that was so bad he'd been banished to the moon?'
Funny how its bringing out different responses. I love the advert but the first thing that sprang to hubbys mind was more along the lines of 'pervert'.... looking into a little girls bedroom. I think his response was a bit over the top myself.
Talking about hubby, he went off the idea of the car yesterday when he realized he was buying a car with only 3 months warranty. He's still going on Saturday to see it but as it stands at the moment i think he will be having his deposit back.
I've not long got up.... well i had to get up really as i'd got a dogs backside in my face. Naughty dog knows she's not allowed on the bed but she had been trying to get me to wake up for ages and when desperation strikes...... Unfortunately the other dog was on high alert all night. I went to bed around midnight and from 2 am onwards she woke me on the hour every hour until it started to get light. At first i thought she needed a wee but she doesnt always shoot down the garden like a bullet and spend a good 20 minutes sniffing every blade of grass, every piece of fence when she just wants a wee.
Lainey, hope all goes well with the equine vet today. I hope he/she can give you the answers you need concerning your boy. Let us know how you get on.
Onwards and forwards,
have a great day all. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Morning,
TA - glad it seems to be working.
AOD - hope you recover soon.
Re the JL advert, I don't really like it, don't know why, just not up to their usual standard IMO.
I know it's naff but the Coke ad is the one that shouts Christmas to me!
Cleaned the fridge this morning - sod these new glasses, I'm surprised we haven't all been ill before now, alternatively maybe that's why we don't get ill - frequent exposure to a multitude of bugs!!!
Have a good day all0 -
The JL advert just seems a bit cynical to me - you can imagine the ad execs sitting down and saying "Ok, what can we do this year to make people cry" - it leaves me cold.
The Liberty exhibition at the Museum of Fashion and Textiles was brilliant, well worth visiting if you're into that sort of thing.
I've complained to TFL this morning because I had to wait 45 minutes for a bus (and then 3 came along at once), it wasn't busy on the roads either. I missed my train and had to pay £11.90 excess fare grr.
Taking it easy today because the chest infection I've been brewing for the last week has finally arrived with a vengeance.0 -
Hester
I go to SW tonight too, with my DD. Glad you have some back up with the awful BIL.
I went out this morning for a few bits and bobs and treated myself to some nice flowers. Remembered just in time not to get a bouquet with lillies in it as I am cat sitting this weekend.
I had some wholemeal bread with low fat cheese spread and then a big bowl of home made chicken and veg soup. Too late to wash bedding that has just been changed so will do that tomorrow. Some laundry has had to go on the inside airer to finish off.
Managed to order a few presents online which will save a lot of trailing round the shops. I even got some management type books for middle dd as well a couple of pretty things.
To anyone who enjoyed Shirley Goode's books , tv programmes and blog - I logged in today as I knew she had been in hospital and hoped she was recovering only to find she had died yesterday. Her blog is still there and there is a lot of archive recipes and ideas. Her idea for chicken and cheese stuffed pancakes was a much requested birthday meal with all my daughters and I used to think of her every time I made it.
Hugs to all."This site is addictive!"

Thanks Judi - not good re my boy am afraid, the vet who came out today doesn't think his current lameness is related to last years problem, which was a haematoma . He is clearly very lame and in pain so she has put him on complete box rest and Bute. The only way we will have a definitive answer is by doing a bone scan so have contacted my Insurer and they will hopefully give go ahead once have spoken to the Eq hosp.If they don't will have to take the expense myself as really can't make an informed decision without that information, she did say it was unlikely he will be able to get back into work
so much for the previous vet whose advice was to ride him through it, gggrr.
Whatever happens will do what's best for him, even if it means making the hardest decision ever, can't think the far ahead right now though. One step at a time.0 -

My DD said exactly the same thing!
The rain didn't stay off for long, it's so heavy at times we will be in need of an Ark soon!0
