O/S Daily Wednesday 11th November 2015

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Morning everyone

Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x

Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them.

DH up gone to work early. DS1 now getting ready for work. DS2 still in his pit, will wake him in a bit.

Now getting light, wind has now eased off. Have a load of wet washing that I’m going to put out on the line before I leave for work.

Dinner last night was sausages, mash, veg and gravy. Tonight we’re having spag bol.

Work yesterday was either manic or dead – but had some really difficult cases, but I was able to assist which helped the customers.

Working until lunchtime, then on days’ off, although I’m working Sat morning and have to go to a training session tomorrow morning. Will get as many jobs done this afternoon as possible.

Keep safe and well x

Thanks NMLC for starting the thread x
Hugs to all that need them x
Last night dinner was Pasta Bake using up some of the LO veggies in the crisper tray. Its was quick and easy as it was a hell of a day at work. Today is going to be much of the same i imagine.
Not stuck my head outside yet so not sure of the weather .
Anyhoo better get ready for work.
    Hugs x
    Bright Blessings xx
  • Morning all, last night's dinner was some lettuce and tomato, couldn't face more and this morning realise why as have been up half the night with disgusting upset stomach. Meant to be on a training thing this morning but unless this settles in the next hour, will not be able to go. Too much information. Will eat a piece of toast in experimental manner as am (oddly) hungry.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back

    Lest We Forget

    Morning All

It's not raining! Yet. Washed a load of towels last night so they are on the airer, I'll finish them off in the dryer later. DW on.

AOD - Hope your tummy settles.
LW - Let's hope your paws are better very soon.

The tile chap came yesterday and is going to pay the builder the money I am withholding and also pay him to clean them again. If that doesn't work we will re-think, he was very pleasant and apologetic. I had been expecting a bit of an arguement.

Builder put up some large pictures in the living room, it looks much better in there now, the rest of the pictures don't suit the house so will put them back in the loft and gradually paint the frames.

Off to the theatre tonight to see Me and My Girl, one of the teachers at work is in it. I think my colleague and I will go for something to eat before we go.

    Take care. XX
  • Morning all. I am back in the land of posting after our three day absence in Liverpool.

First of all sincere condolences and (((HUGS))))) for HESTER and Mr H. Even when the end is expected it's still heartbreaking when it happens. I hope you are being allowed to grieve in peace and the BIL isn't being an ar*ehole.

We got back late yesterday afternoon. Both shattered after a draining few days. As far as they can tell, the therapy did what they had hoped. The scan he had yesterday morning seemed to show that Monday's Radionuclide therapy had targeted the tumours as they had hoped. He has had no side effects which is good news, but feels very tired. So now it's fortnightly blood tests (can be done locally) and monthly visits to Leeds for the Lanreotide inj and to see the consultant. Then back to Liverpool in 12 weeks for another scan and a repeat of the therapy. Meanwhile we will try to carry on as normally as we can and fit life in between all the appointments! I am grateful for all your good wishes and kind thoughts, so much appreciated and it's nice to know people care.

So that's where we are of as now. Mr TA still looks the picture of health despite all this going on inside. He hasn't put back on much of the weight he lost when he couldn't eat but I'm working on it!

I need to have a rummage in the freezer and see what I can cobble up for today's meals. Some sensible eating is needed by me as, for the last three days, I seem to have lived off rubbish - sandwiches, pies, choccy bars and crisps. Not good!

(((HUGS)))) to everyone else in need just now. DUMPLING and JUDI seem to be having a bad time so thinking of you. ELONA I hope all goes well with the house sale/hunt. The chalet bungalow sounds perfect.
Have a good day all and take care xx

    Morning all

Good to hear your news TA.

LW I hope the paws improve soon.

I'm off to work in a sec, hubby is on lates and starts at 1, it will be a long day as he doesn't finish until 10 tonight. I was given a couple of condolence cards for hubby from work, which was nice.

We are still getting phone calls from FIL about BIL2, but a couple of younger family members are on the case now so hopefully they will make BIL2 back off a bit as they are both big lads who won't take any carp from BIL2.

Roll on the funeral and the will reading, legal steps can then be taken to restrain BIL2 & peace can return to our home.

I need to collect a prescription and go to the butchers my freezer thinks I've turned vegetarian.
I got up at 2 and made hubby & I a cuppa, but I did get back to sleep after.

DD1 came over for a chat & gave us copies of the DGC's school photo's.

Back to slimming world tonight, I will have to start from scratch I expect as I've been eating whatever I could grab for the last couple of weeks.

    Have a good day everyone.

    Hugs Hester
    Chin up, Titus out.

    Morning all

Off to work , it's extremely busy ATM so not looking forward to it , I'm hoping I can persuade the bosses to hold a 2 minute silence at 11 am , if not I will do it by myself

I'm on holiday for 2 weeks after today thank goodness I am in desperate need of a break away from work and I've got a couple of lovely things to look forward to :T

I spent a couple of hours clearing leaves from the garden yesterday afternoon , because of the wind and warmth they were dry so it was a bit easier to do and I've dumped them in the garden waste bin , it's the last collection today until April next year .

Right must dash have a good day everyone xx

    Morning :hello:

    Thinking of you Hester xx

Hope you feel better soon ancientofdays x

TravellingAbuella That's good news, I'm glad the treatment is working x

I've gone a bit mad with the shopping :D Quite pleased that I'm still spending less than what I budget for. There's extra points each week then a £25 voucher if I keep this up for the next few weeks. It's working out well so far, a lot of what I buy is on offer so I can really stock up (I'm going to struggle to find somewhere to store it all though, lol). I haven't spent the points I've earned over the last few months - my grocery bill for january and february is going to be ridiculously low :D

Mr tru's mates are going out for a meal soon, they asked if I was going and mr tru told them no – politely of course. One of them has said she's going to ring me soon to persuade me – I was instantly cross! If I'd said yes, would she contact me to make sure I meant yes? No of course she wouldn't, she'd just assume I meant yes. I have caller ID and the phone will be ignored.

The shopping is being delivered this morning. If anyone needs loo rolls, toiletries, washing powder, tea or coffee, I'll have plenty :D I have a big pile of receipts and invoices to get through today. I asked for them to be given to me by the end of each weekend so I can work on monday mornings but that seems to have been ignored. I'll stop being polite and demand it instead :D Apart from that, just a couple of loads of washing to do and a nice long walk with The Scamps.

Morning all, get well wishes to poorly folk, strength to those going through hard times.

Just back with the girls, it's cloudy and windy but just watched the weather report and it looks like due to get even windier, our poor roof tiles.

Have someone from the equine hospital coming this morning to give me a second opinion on my boy, this problem has been going on for over a year now and whilst my vet has been good he has not really given me a difinitive answer as to what is now causing the problem. Am just grateful I kept up his insurance as suspect he will need scans etc, not cheap :(

Anyways, hope everyone has a peaceful Armistace Day.
  • Toast not good idea.
Best wishes to Mr TA and Hester, I hope that you and Mr are able to have a restful day, apart from work.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back
