Unauthorised "My Credit Monitor" DD

Options
Hi.

Has anyone ever heard of "My Credit Monitor"??

I've been doing alot of online Xmas shopping the last week from a number of different retailers and paid for all transactions using my DD card.

I was checking my bank account online on Sunday and noticed 3 payments had been taken by "My Credit Monitor" for 3 different amounts- £2.50 - £13.99 - £17.94 but I have never heard of them and would never authorise them taking money from my account.

I did a Google search and it seems it is some type of subscription service but I did not sign up for it.

The last 2 days my home phone has been going non stop with calls from Asian men stating they are from the "Credit Investigation Bureau" and offering me assistance with so called "debt".

Like I say I have done alot of shopping online recently and therefore given my debit card details to many retailers including Amazon and Ebay so now I am worried that my bank account is vulnerable to being emptied.

I have emailed "My Credit Monitor" requesting an explanation. Should I also contact my bank?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Definitely contact your bank. Sounds like your card details have been compromised.
It's not your credit score that counts, it's your credit history. Any replies are my own personal opinion and not a representation of my employer.

Yes inform your bank about it.

Where did you use your card ?
  • Thanks for the replies guys. I will call my bank in the morning.

I've used the card online more the last week than I have in years because I haven't been too well and thought it would be easier to get my Christmas shopping delivered.

Boots- Superdrug- Mothercare- M&S- Boomf- Funkypigeon- Fragrance Direct- All Beauty- Cosmetics Fairy- EastEnd Beauty- Tescos- Asda- Dorothy Perkins- Freemans- New Look- Iceland- NotOnTheHighStreet- Look Again- FireBox- and 4 purchases from Ebay/Amazon.

As you can see from the list I have basically bought everything I need for Christmas online this year. I know the amount taken from my account by this "My Credit Monitor" company isn't a high amount but I'm just concerned that it's some sort of fradulent scam to take small amounts multiple times and before you know it hundreds could be gone.

I feel a little silly ringing my bank to complain about roughly £35 being missing but well it's my money and I have the right to protect it.

    Thanks again.
  • hello mate

My credit monitor is a credit scoring check service like experian and equifax, their monthly charge is 13.99 after a free trial for 30 days. did you or anyone you know checked your credit score on their site. As they are not a dodgy site and wouldn't start taking your money without being consent as i have been a member of them and cancelled after free trial but never been charged by them.
firstly, you should speak to their customer service on 0344 381 4163
