Hi,
it's car insurance renewal time again and I'm looking for legal cover.
I've seen this company after some searching memonline.co.uk (sorry i'm not allowed to post links) which has been previously discussed on this forum but it's not clear to me what the view actually is. (I would put link but I'm not allowed).
Has anyone had any experience with them? I have checked the FCA register and they are listed but would like to hear anyone with personal experience. They do a deal which covers house as well as car cover which looks good.
thanks in advance.

You don't understand how the industry works do you?
This is what every motor legal expenses insurer does. i.e broker or insurer takes £20-£30 off you, you make a claim for a non-fault accident and they move you to their solicitors and hire companies for kick backs and they never pay any money out for legal fees etc as the panel solicitor has usually signed a "hold harmless" agreement saying they will never seek any costs against the policy - this is a condition for being on the panel.
Some of the home legal insurers have to entertain claims because there are situations where it is not possible to avoid helping the policyholder and the solicitors they use have no way of getting paid any costs by another party. Usually what happens is the claim is passed to their in-house "claims specialist" (call centre worker following a flow diagram) if you want to use your own lawyer, you can only do this at the point of issuing proceedings and then, the legal expense insurer will confirm they will only pay £50/hour so few other solicitors can afford to take the work on.0
