Higher insurance for top floor flat?

Myself and my partner are looking at buying a flat, there are two identical flats in the block for sale but one of them Is at the top connected with the roof....will it cost us more in insurance because of the roof e.g incase the roof leaked and if so is it much more? As we would prefer to live higher up. We would already pay maintenance charge but when buying insurance do they charge you more for being connected to the roof? we are first time buyers so we haven't a clue! Thanks!

You need to put your info into a comparison site and see what comes up, different insurers may have different criteria.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0

Hi
We purchased a top (3rd) floor flat as first time buyers many years ago. From what I remember our contents insurance was cheaper than the ground floor flat. Because it was said there was less chance of burglary etc.. if you are higher up. I am not sure if that still stands as the opinion today.
If there is an issue like roof leak etc. that would be covered by the Lease Holders insurance and not your contents insurance.
We actually had a roof leak in to our flat so contacted the Lease Holder and they dealt with the issue. We had to have part of the living room ceiling removed but this was all paid for by the insurance company. Also we had one wall with damaged wallpaper so this was redecorated through the Lease Holders Insurance too.
Hope that is of some help.*3.36 kWp solar panel system,10 x Ultima & 4 x Panasonic solar panels, Solaredge Inverter *Biomass boiler stove for cooking, hot water & heating *2000ltr Rainwater harvesting system for loo flushing *Hybrid Toyota Auris car *RIP Pingu, Hoppy, Ginger & Biscuit *Hens & Ducks* chat thread. http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.php?t=52822090
