Child Tax Credits when moving to self employed

My partner works FT and I work PT. We currently claim child tax credits. We are hoping to stop this claim at the end of this tax year as we hope to increase our earnings, I am now able to look for full time work and my partner is looking to increase their earnings by becoming self employed.in an area they specialises in. We have researched this idea well and my partner has self- employed work scheduled in for next year already. The only thing we are unsure of is that when my parters hands their notice in there will probably be a short gap of a few weeks before the self employed work begins. We are trying to minimise this, but due to the way projects are scheduled in their current role there is an obvious time when it would suit everybody better if they finished and this is likely to be approx 2 to 4 weeks before the clients need them. How will this affect our current CTC claim for this tax year? I assume we need to write to inform them when the employment finishes and do I then tell tas credits they are now out of work or self employed? Will we have to repay this whole year as they are giving up work, or can they go straight to being self employed even though they have no work yet? Hope my question makes sense! Basically over the whole year my partner will be working FT employed most of the time, then FT self employed for the rest, but it is they small gap inbetween that is worrying us.

You are allowed up to 4 weeks gap as you call it in between.
Have a look at https://www.gov.uk/working-tax-credit/further-information:footie:
Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

Thanks that is great. I guess that is the same for Child Tax Credit as we don't get Working Tax Credit.0
