Ipad not switching on after update.

My sister has a 4 year old Ipad but is a bit slow at updating. She recently took it to her Apple shop in Geneva ( where she lives ) and it crashed during update. They said as she had the screen replaced elsewhere they could not help. I have been trying to get it working and it downloads the software but cant seem to get any further even though the serial number comes up on Itunes. Also it doesnt seem to be holding charge. any ideas

Put it in Recovery Mode, then reset it in iTunes:

Put it in bin mode, then reset it with a lump hammer ..
Then go out and buy a proper (Android) tablet, where changing your own battery in your own device is actually an option
