Watching TV then yes. Picking up Free view in surround sound then no.

I'm a great believer in your get what you pay for. Saying that, the TV industry (like all techy equipment) has changed so much over the years. Dabs don't make TV's so it'll be somebody else's brand behind the name, but who?

For £299 if it lasts two year than you done ok from it.

If I was buying I'd be looking at:-

What size I wanted and would fit?
LDC or Plasma?
Do I need HD or will I use it in the next 5 years? (it's not a free service)
How many scarts and other connection ports?
Do I want extras like free view?
Do I get a stand or bracket with it?
Will it fit/work with my other equipment?
Can I connect my camera & laptop to it?
Can I get cashback? (have done so with dabs before via Quidco)

This one is half the price, has Freeview built in and being CRT rather than LCD may well give a better picture. OK, it's deeper but if you're putting it in the corner you probably won't notice. It's not HD ready but that may not be important to you.
