Opening/applying an account is one process.
Switching an existing account is another.
I would recommend you wait with your switch request until you have a fully functional Halifax account, complete with online access, debit card and PIN. That will avoid any situation where your Natwest account has been closed but your Halifax one isn't yet usable.0 -
I don't think they ask until the account is fully opened. I haven't seen anything about switching yet. Their incentive terms are new and existing Reward accounts so it can't hurt if you wait until you get debit card and PIN etc.0

When your account is open, use this: https://secure.form.halifax.co.uk/application/account_transfer.asp0

Ooooooohhhh, thank you both.It didn't occur to me it would be 2 seperate processes, but of course that makes perfect sense.

I've just switched from Santander to TSB yesterday (eventually I'll be transferring my Lloyds account too) and completed the online switch form as a separate process.
It asked me questions like "is this a joint account" etc. Also asked how I'd be paying any outstanding balances and also for my account number, sort code and debit card number.
Took around five minutes to do.It's not your credit score that counts, it's your credit history. Any replies are my own personal opinion and not a representation of my employer.0
