radfan

Hello!
I'm wondering whether to buy a radfan http://www.radfan.com/ and wondering if anyone has used one in their house, and if they make any difference to the temperature in the room. I live in a victorian end of terrace, and is cold and impossible to heat! looking for any way I can to make it just that little bit warmer (that are fairly cheap!)

Thanks!

  • If your house is difficult to heat, either your heating system is not up to scratch, or more likely, it cannot keep up with the rate at which heat is escaping. I can't see how a radiator fan will help in this instance.

Your money would be better spent on tackling the source(s) of heat loss... e.g. increase insulation and eliminate drafts.

Which? Magazine seem to rate them. I am thinking of getting one and giving it a try. If you do, I'd be interested to know how you get on.

Before spending money check your radiators are getting hot all over. If not they may have air in them which is easy to remove and if a trv is fitted check the setting. Halfway is normally 70 degrees.
    As above check for drafts.

I think there is some noise from the four- and six-fan versions, for larger radiators.
  • thanks for the replies! It's a rented house so can't do too much about insulation (although might ask the landlady about loft insulation at some point) they are solid walls as the house is over 100 years old.
radiators are fine, get really hot and don't need bleeding, and the boiler is fairly new.
think I'll have a read of the which? review though
