Wrong Item Delivered

If you'd sent it back when first requested, the correct item would no doubt be on its way to you now ...
A PP dispute is not going to solve things more quickly - you'll still need to return the item and you'll then have to reorder the correct one.
(They state they refund postage costs for faulty/ incorrect goods.)
I shop online for many reasons and these same reasons prevented me from returning the game immediately. My daughter could have returned it but I can hardly expect a 5'1", 7 and a half stone child to carry a 2' box over a mile to the nearest P.O. in order to rectify someone else's error! I explained my situation to the company when I suggested a courier, to which I was told I would only be refunded the price of 1st class post regardless of the method of return. No matter which way you look at the situation it is obvious the company will never lose out, however my daughter already has. :mad:Ria

Why not?
Mistakes happen. All you seem to be doing is making a mountain out of a molehill.
Send the item back first class with a certificate of postage and then await your refund/correct item once they have received the incorrectly delivered item back.
From what you keep posting, you make it sound like your daughter is from the "I want it now" generation. Just tell her to wait, thats what you have to do in life sometimes. Im sure a little bit longer without a computer game isnt going to hurt.0 -
If you can't get to the post office Hermes offer a very reasonable courier service that will collect from home - it may even be cheaper than RM.
How are you planning to collect it from a click and collect point?0 -

I never even thought of Hermes, thank you.
The manager of the shop is a relative of my neighbour. He would bring it to me and visit my neighbour at the same time. I've only ever asked him to do this once in the 14 years I've known him but I know he would do it.Ria

How odd that your daughter would actively suggest click and collect when it is such a run around
Perhaps the kindly neighbour's relative would be kind enough to drop the item off at the post office, or your son that has a car and lives at home could drop it off for you?
It's an annoying situation, but it does come across that you're being a tad difficult about this.0 -
Therefore unless you have agreed to return the wrong item, you do not have to do so, simply make it available for collection. Your situation regarding kids is similar to mine and I am in the same position.
It would be interesting to see what terms and conditions both you and the OP have agreed to when purchasing the item.0 -

I have already acknowledged mistakes do happen, that's life. My gripe is how that mistake is then rectified. Once it has been pointed out then someone should put their hands up, apologise and work out a way to fix it with minimal fuss. That has not happened in my case. If you think I am making a mountain out of a molehill so be it, I don't. "From what you keep posting", please don't feel obliged to read my posts however, if you choose to do so please read all of them properly and in context. Pay particular attention to Muppet11's very helpful post regarding Trading Standards and the return of items. As for the remark "you make it sound like your daughter is from the "I want it now" generation", how so? Maybe I could have worded my posts a little better or you have just assumed that she must be. My daughter has never once asked for anything in her life. She was given her brother's old Playstation along with 2 games, when he moved out. This would have been the very first game bought just for her, for doing so well in her exams and for looking after me. I will not apologise for being a bit aggrieved that the only treat I have ever been able to afford to give my daughter, has caused so many problems.Ria

Why?
You can't sign away your statutory rights as a consumer, one of which is the right to get the retailer to arrange collection of goods that were misdescribed or faulty on delivery.0 -

Well I'm looking at this part:Muppet11 wrote:or (if there is an agreement for the consumer to return rejected goods) to return them as agreed.
and thinking whether acceptance of Ts and Cs, relating to the rejection of items and the requirement to return items, could constitute an agreement to return rejected goods, as apposed to making them available for collection.0 -
I can only speak for my case, but there is nothing in the T&C's that covers 'sending the wrong item in the first place', especially when the company selling admits doing so in the first place.
Regarding rejections, my particular T&C's entitles me to a refund once items are returned. However, this is only where they are in full working order. Faulty items are requested that they may require them back. That is not an agreement, not is there any suggestion that this needs to be done BEFORE the issue is rectified.
In an analogy to the OP, I ordered the game but recieved just an empty box. Seller immediately admits wrongdoing, but won't refund until they get their box back.
PayPal T&C's regarding resolution through claim is that YOU are responsible for return postage. Legally it is the seller, but this cannot be recovered through PayPal as part of the claim so you would need to take that up with the seller directly. Bear that in mind before you put all your faith in their claims process.0
