Old Halifax account

I had a letter in July I didnt do anything about! My own fault I know. Telling me I had some money in an account i have not used for 15 years. I should have responded but for various reasons I didnt. Now they have transferred my money to The Reclaim Fund. They directed my to a website lostmyaccount.ord.uk. But the form to complete on that site seems to be to trace an account. But I know where the account was the sort code and the account, so I dont need to trace it I want to apply to have my money returned to me. It says it takes 3 months to do the trace but I know where the money was. IM CONFUSED. Can anyone help please. How do you get your money returned?

Im not sure you can now, the letter sent to you was stating that you haven't used your account for 15 years and if you don't transact on the account or close the account yourself then account will be automatically closed and the money in the account will be donated.

Due to not receiving any confirmation of a transaction or closure by yourself they have done what was mentioned on the letter.

You didn't do what they asked you to do in July.

Now you are suggesting you shouldn't do what they are asking you to do now.

How often do they need to ask you before you follow their suggestions?

But the form to complete on that site seems to be to trace an account.

Correct. Your account has been closed, you have no access to it and therefore it is considered lost. You would need to follow the instructions given to you in order to be reunited with your funds.

The account isn't lost as its been closed and the funds are again not in limbo as they have been donated to charity, this was mentioned in the letter.

The form you are speaking about is to locate accounts that you may have forgotten about which still have funds in, this form would have been used to locate your halifax account if halifax hadnt already contacted you to tell you the same information that the form would if you had completed it.

The funds have been donated as per the letter, in reply to your OP, you cant get you money returned as it been donated.
