JAS Parking Solutions & MIL Collections

Hi to all.
I started to read through the Stickeys, but I really haven't got time to study them in great detail and find relevance to my case. I'll try and keep this brief and to the point.
Parked in Staples, Luton on 26/05/2014. Went for lunch, no intention of buying anything from Staples. Hold my hands up to that.
Returned to car, PCN from JAS on windscreen. Ignored all letters sent to home address, which came from JAS and another outfit with a similar amateur looking letterhead.
Notice to Keeper was received in September, around 120 days after the event. Again, ignored (I haven't sent anything at all to JAS nor appealed anything. I have literally done..... nothing).
Around January this year, I received a letter from JAS' supposed legal team. I cannot remember the name of them, but I couldn't find anything about them on Google.
Again, ignored, and nothing heard since.
I moved house in May this year, and all my post is redirected. Over the weekend I received a letter addressed to my old address from JAS telling me they have 'sold' the 'account' to MIL Collections and they are preparing a case to 'recover the sum due to us'.
Now, when I moved house, I dumped all of the correspondence sent to me by these cowboys, as I assumed they'd given up.
If I need to put a case together, I'm a bit screwed now. Are MIL Collections genuine and will they actually take me to court? I have been laughing at JAS so far but should I be worried now? Will the fact that I have moved house, and they are sending letters to my old address help my case in any way?
Many thanks in anticipation.

MIL will take you to court - unless you put together a robust and legally-based defence. But you're going to have to put in the legwork (more than you've put into reading the stickies) or you will get a default judgment against you.
There are a number of MIL cases that have been dealt with very firmly over on PePiPoo, so as well as using the 'search this forum' here on MSE for 'JAS MIL' go over to PePiPoo and do likewise. There's some good stuff there, and plenty to be getting your teeth into.

In terms of your new address - that could very well work against you, especially if you don't ensure you have ongoing redirect facilities in place as all correspondence will be directed to your former address, including any Letter Before Action, stamped court papers, default judgment, CCJ and life-ruining credit file endorsements. Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

MIL have also bought debts from other parking companies, so just search on MiL, don't limit yourself to JAS.
There's quite a few CPMS ones too. The principles are the same.
On the pack you received from MiL, was there a letter enclosed from JAS and was it signed?Je Suis Cecil.0 -

There is no actual signature, just 'Your's Faithfully' a blank space, then Accounts Dept, JAS Parking Solutions Ltd'0 -

Is it worth me writing to MIL and outlining the fact that the NTK was received well after the 56 day deadline? I cannot prove this however, as I have thrown everything away. Also, I am sure if I mention this to JAS they will re-issue a letter and adjust the date.0 -
You are waaaay too far down the road to try that - almost 18 months after the event? You have to play this firmly with a straight bat and right down the middle, or it could cost you.

I would go and find a few MIL threads on https://www.pepipoo.com first.
There are some letter examples - don't just copy and paste though, you need to check how relevant they are - but they do capture the main points you should be fighting them on and how to do it.
I would suggest registering there and starting a parallel thread over there. They have some good experience of these MIL cases.
The fact the JAS letter is unsigned and was included in the letter from MiL, and not sent to you separately by JAS (and signed) is in your favour here. My belief is that this is insufficient to comply with the criteria necessary to assign the debt to MiL in the first place. It's a key defence point for you.Je Suis Cecil.0 -

Do some reading, and then challenge MIL (accuse them of dodgy practices without actually saying as much).0 -
(is there a barcode on the letter which is pretty similar to the one on the letter from MIL themselves)?
Yes there is a bar-code on both letters which is exactly the same.0 -

Quite a bit written by Gan on PePiPoo about the two unsigned letters and the identical barcodes. Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
