refunds of fees when repaying mortgages

I have switched mortgages a few times, and even though in the long term it saves me money, the initial fees I have to pay to the old mortgage company puts me into debt. For example, the last fees I had to pay to the halifax were £499.00 arrangement fee and £345 valuation charge. Also, interest is charged on these fees from completion. Before that, I had a mortgage with the Abbey, I had to pay £999.00 booking fee and of course £225 admin fee,( which I tried to claim back but I found out I couldn't because it hadn't changed).
Can I go anywhere with this? Or am I being greedy
Thanks all

These fees you paid were to get you a better rate than the SVR. Thus you are buying a product.
If you didn't want to pay the fees you should have went elsewhere.0 -
Paging dunstonh to thread 535695
On what grounds do you think the fees should be refunded? You are paying for a product that saves you money compared to the SVR and the other charges are explained before you sign up.
If you dont like them then there are plenty of other products out there with no fees.
This question is being asked on an almost daily basis so see here:

Thanks for all your comments, I am new to this forum, and I was pleased to see that Martin has posted a little bit of advice on the right hand side of the page, it says 'forum etiquette', its a shame that some of you have not read it, just look at the discourteous comments I have recieved. It would have been nice to receive some sensible advice.(even if I was politely told that I can't do anything) I have to say I am disappointed.0

Its nothing personal, its just that this sort of question comes up again and again on this forum thanks to all the hype about reclaiming bank charges.
If you had browsed through a couple of pages of the forum before posting this thread you would have seen that a similar question has been asked (and replied to many times) as per the ones I provided links to above.0 -
netiquette also dictates that you check to see if your question has been asked already. There is nothing wrong with asking a question but when the same question gets asked once or twice a day it gets boring for the regular contributers. And its the regulars that will be giving the answers. Not the 1 or 2 post wonders asking the same question.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
