Some great ideas in here thanks. Does any one else have that moment of madness when they buy a tin of something while in B&M or Home Bargains because they haven't seen it for ages?
I currently have a Fray Bentos Pie and a tin of chicken in white sauce sitting in my larder. Now I might get around to using them, thanks so much!
(OH always drops a tin of spam into the basket which I say we won't use and he opens as soon as he gets home! Cut into cubes, fried and added to a cooked, pasta- in- sauce mix reminds him of his student days...)The beautiful thing about learning is nobody can take it away from you.
Thanks to everyone who contributes to this wonderful forum. I'm very grateful for the guidance and friendliness that I always receive from you.

I can honestly say I am so glad that my dad made our meals from scratch and the things we only ever had in tins were baked beans or tuna.
I had a boyfriend when I was in my teens who loved fray bentos pies. He cooked one and opened it in front of me, and it smelt exactly like my dogs pedigree chum!0 -

The only tinned stuff I usually keep in the store cupboard are tomatoes, various types of beans/pulses, corned beef, tuna/pink salmon and mackerel in tomato sauce. Occasionally buy coconut milk for Thai curry and mushy peas, if I fancy pie & peas.
This thread has inspired me to perhaps try a few other products though. I tend to shop in Aldi mostly so what tinned produce would people recommend from there?0 -

I loved those tinned sponge puddings. I love them even more now that they come in pots that take seconds to cook.0 -
