Bank Account Postal/care of Address

I would like to open a new bank account online but I do not wish for any correspondence relating to the account to go to my home address. Is it possible to state this to the bank or can an account be opened as a "care of" address please? Anyone know??

If it involves a debit card, they have to post something. You can later opt into paperless statements, etc but they may post some things.

Some online banks may be mostly paperless. What bank were you thinking?

Pretty sure documents must be posted to the address you're declaring to be the address you're staying at (at least when you're opening the account, as a security measure to prevent ID fraud)

AFAIK, Metro bank account can be opened in a branch with the card issued there and then.
Obviously, you need to prove your ID and, most likely, the address.

Sometimes swift payments, particularly international ones, can be rejected by the receiving bank when a c/o address is used. I dare say that you're not expecting to send funds internationally but it's worth pointing out.

Lloyds, Halifax, BOS and TSB have the option of a correspondence address different to your residential address. Whether this ensures that none of their written communication would go to your residential address is a different question.

EDIT: Actually, they state that "Certain high risk items such as new PINs or UserIDs will still be sent to your residential address for security reasons"

I've had written correspondence from them following account opening 3-4 years ago. However, and unless I've thrown some away, the last was nearly 2 years ago when they notified me they were removing the worldwide forex benefit.
