Duplicate child passport

But PR does give him (equal) rights to be involved in decisions about all sorts of his child's life and upbringing.
That doesn't change if he is no longer in a relationship with the mother.
She needs proper legal advice about what she can and can't stop him doing and what she can do to apply to limit his rights if that is what she wants.
That is correct but the thread isn't about PR it's about a passport and potential abduction.. PR doesn't give anyone the right to abduct a child and flee the country.0 -
I would contact the passport office and have them flag the file. I did this when we had photocopies of passports stolen. They sent me a letter to confirm that it wasn't really deemed a security risk but that they had added a note to files.
I would also send the current passport to stay with my parents/best friend.0 -
Was this triggered by being refused the passport to take the child on holiday abroad? Is it a case that the actions of the OPs friend has triggered these actions in an attempt to get another passport to enable him (?) to freely take the child abroad - the same capability that the OP's friend has by having possession of the passport?
With only one side heard then it may well be the case. I love the way that people jump on the abduction bandwagon with very little in the way of facts especially when the only facts are one-sided.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Even if it was ......removing a child from the parent they live with and taking them abroad secretly is hardly the sign of a responsible NRP.
I can't think of anyone who'd be that cruel . If the NRP wanted to take a child on a legitimate holiday and the PWC refused then the NRP can go to court to get it sanctioned.
(I've told the story before of the six year old whose supposedly recovered alcoholic NRP took him alone on holiday to Florida- went on a bender the first night and was arrested and then sectioned and the resulting fallout. Just because a NRP wants to take a child on holiday -it doesn't always mean it's the best thing for the child. My example may be extreme - but it happened.
In all probability had that PWC posted on here that her ex wanted to take their child to Florida and she was worried -she'd have got scolded by some for been unfair to the NRP and that she was over reacting. )I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

Nobody's jumping on any bandwagon, others have commented as per the ops opening post where it's stated the mother is concerned that the father maybe contemplating abduction...0 -
And neither does it mean that they are either going to abduct the child and not return it or totally neglect it whilst away.Just because a NRP wants to take a child on holiday -it doesn't always mean it's the best thing for the child.
But in the meantime the NRP will be considered to be planning to commit a heinous crime so the police need to be told , a STEPS order obtained etc.In all probability had that PWC posted on here that her ex wanted to take their child to Florida and she was worried -she'd have got scolded by some for been unfair to the NRP and that she was over reacting.
Why not go the whole hog and get the PWC to get an injunction immediately preventing him going anywhere near the child? I'm surprised that hasn't been suggested. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Thanks for your replies. A couple of answers:
- my friend applied for the passport on her own although they were together at the time, but the father was aware of this and had no objection. In fact this was done with the intention of having a family holiday before her maternity leave ended last year, otherwise she wouldn't have bothered. In fact we had a good laugh at the time about how difficult it was getting a headshot of her baby
- she had just opened the post when he turned up out of nowhere, outside of agreed access hours. She's been trying to keep things cordial so let him in and play with the baby for a bit, got distracted by making him a cup of tea and returned to the room to find him with his phone out and taking the snap whilst the LO was left to its own devices. She didn't challenge him at the time or afterwards, she's too scared to.

In which case, as I said before, he can't get another UK passport issued without her written consent.
Whether he would need details of the child's UK passport to get her a passport from his own country is probably something worth investigating. He may be trying to apply for dual nationality.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
No, he's a Brit but has dreams of living abroad from well before they got together. The fact that he's researched his great escape for a while compounds the worries. He'd have to go down the fake passport route.peachyprice wrote: »In which case, as I said before, he can't get another UK passport issued without her written consent.
