It's all very romantic etc sleeping in one bed - but I suspect the reality of it (particularly as peoples bodies get older and more troublesome) on a long-term basis is not all its cracked up to be.....
Definitely makes me cringe when I see two people shoehorned into a tiny 4'6" bed (eg victor mildrew as an example) - me and OH each have our own room with a decent 5' bed in each and we have been together 17 years just fine. She has 3 cats and it means they can lie on her bed without bothering me as I'm no great fan of pets on my bed!0 -
The OP is already 29 so 32 is only 3 years away - hardly a long time to wait for something as life changing as a sprog - why the hurry?
"only 3 years". You'd hope they've already been together a number of years before marriage so the wedding would be the next step. Personally I'd see a kid around 29-30 then a 2nd around 32 as being ideal in this situation...wouldn't want to chuck stuff at IVF further down the line.
As long as both lie in the opposite direction it should be like each is sleeping in a single, but they have the closeness of sleeping together before then e.g. romantic moments like watching Walking Dead in bed togetherNever understood this obsession with sleeping in one bed together - most people will sleep far better in their own bed (in their own room ideally)Mortgage (Nov 15): £79,950 | Mortgage (May 19): £71,754 | Mortgage (Sep 22): £0

We have our own rooms too! I was poorly years ago and it made sense to sleep in different each with double beds. We wouldn't go back to sharing again, better sleep and more freedom to read or not.

Can you extend or convert the loft? Sorry f has been mentioned I've skimmed the thread.0 -

If I'd got coupled-up ever then that would have been my solution - ie 5' bed in his room, ditto in her (ie my) room.
You can always "buddy up" at times you're feeling like a bit of "recreational activity";) and then things "fall as they fall" - as to whether one of you decides to get up and swop beds subsequently to get a decent nights sleep.
No worries about wanting different amounts of bedding/if one of you wants to have a bedside light on and read for a while/if one of you is having a sleepless night/etc/etc.
I read the statistics one time recently about how many British people don't get a decent nights sleep and it definitely looked to me like some of the fault could be traced to having enforced bed-sharing.
That's before we get onto bodies getting older and possible health problems (eg the number of men who get prostate problems and land up getting up to go to the loo umpteen times in the night because of it - and disturbing their wife in the process).0 -
