So had Kingsbridge been regulated (lost that status in 2003 according to the FCA site) what would the claim be for those who have become a victim of HMRC APPEARING to move the goalposts?

Probably nothing as changes in legislation or tax treatment are typical risk warnings on regulated advice.

Of course I may have misunderstood the actual problem, but isn't it the tax demands from HMRC that's causing the problem?

    Just curious, cheers fj

From the press reports it seems they were sold as safe and tax advantageous investments when they were neither. The descriptions sound like what was said about Carnaby Films see a long and long running MSE thread [URL="http://https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/212388[/URL].

Also here may give a flavour of what's involved. I havent got my head around it, but it seems that you can get large tax credits by investing in films that unfortunately make a loss.

And yet they are the one career where they can start claiming a pension at 35 (IIRC)

IF I had kids who wanted it because all the other kids had it then I might have to.

No one would force you. Choosing clothes with children is all part of their financial education. Discussing how much the family can afford, and what they need, is all part of bringing them up.

I they want something they don't need then, they either need to save up pocket money, earned not given, or they need to talk to father christmas, and father christmas will have to choose between all then things they want, because they can't have them all.

    ON THE OTHER HAND
some 40 years ago I desperately wanted a Manchester united football kit for my 8th Christmas, and my parents bought be Manchester United Socks. England away shirt (it was red) and a random white pair of football shorts, and on my 9th Christmas bought me a new bike, a Raleigh Foldaway. because as they said, it would fit in the boot of the car, and would grow with me as really it was a grown up bike.

I was devastated on both occasions. so much so that I saved up and bought my own football kit, and my own 10 speed racer, and from the age of about 12 when asked what I wanted for Christmas, I'd just say "World piece" :rotfl:
