Right to buy advice

Hello all, I hope you can help me with questions I have about the right to buy.
Im interested in buying my mothers council house, in which we live and in which I have been paying the rent for a number of years now due to personal details that I shan't go into. I am on the tenancy agreement, though my mother is the main tenancy holder.
Can I buy the property or can only my mother buy it? And have I built up a right to buy discount in the X number of years that we have lived in the property?

Be prepared for a lot of negative responses - a lot of posters on here are extremely 'anti' Right to Buy, particularly in these circumstances!
Personally I suggest you ask your Local Authority / Housing Agent to ask what you are entitled to - if anything!0 -

But mother WILL lose security. OK - from someone who does this every day of the week ...
OP may have some RTB entitlement of his own built up since becoming a tenant (or may not), but if mother not on 125 offer then it is his entitlement that will apply - not hers.
If they want her RTB entitlement then both must be on offer/mortgage/title register (deeds)(and in my opinion that is the morally correct position).
Get a RTB specialist broker (not a back street introducer - they still hang about the marketplace, man in a pub or a local officer, nor a web forum suggesting a google search) to advise you - expect to pay them a fee. This is not a simple, nor unimportant, subject (there is much more to it than 'can I get the house')
There is way too little information here to provide financial, practical or moral advice.

But it makes a difference - buying jointly versus solely affects what is possible.

from another post you are fairly young (23/24?) if you have a partner and children in the future would you be happy all living in the same property with your mother?0
