Ford S-max 2010 titanium - Audio/navigation Unit Not Working

Warning, complete Novice with repairs here!

Hi,

We have a Ford S-max 2010 titanium and switched on yesterday to find the radio and navigation unit wouldn't work either on the main display or on the drivers dash. I've checked in the manual and the only fuse related to this is the F6 15 amp audio system fuse on the central fuse box. I checked it and it seemed fine but bought a replacement anyway. Tried the replacement but still nothing turns on. Should it turn straight on if it is the fuse or do I need to reset somehow? If it isn't that fuse, are there any others it could be please? I've gone through them all in the book and I can't see anything else marked audio or navigation.

Thanks in advance and apologies if I've missed any important information!

There should be another fuse. One is powered when the ignition is on and the other is live all the time so you can have the radio on when the engine is off.

  • Thanks for the response

The central fuse layout is like the one on this link:

Any idea which other one please?

Is anything else not working - that is the usual way of finding these sneaky unmarked fuses !
  • As far as I can tell, everything on the central display isn't working, so the radio, cd player and cd changer and sat nav system. Similarly, these things are no longer displayed on the drivers display menu. Where you used to be able to select all these from the drivers display, now there are only options for trip computer and general settings. Thanks

Need the wiring diagram to know exactly which fuse to check.

Probably its the main radio/satnav etc unit that's failed.

If you can get it out re manual/utube instructions etc easily then check if its getting power.

If not then ford garage to diagnose? would suspect cheaper replacement units on ebay if found to be dead

Rear fuse box FC5 7.5a "cd changer and rear seat entertainment system" so linked to the audio - the description does not always give the full story.

    Hi

So I started this thread about 15 months ago. The problem resolved itself a week later all by itself. Power returned to the unit and we I just had to input the radio code into the unit to unlock it and it started working again as normal.

The original problem happened after we left the center parcs carpark. The car had been parked there all week and didn't work after we returned to.

We went to center parcs this week, returned to the car and guess what... the audio/navigation unit wasn't working again having been working perfectly since last time this problem worked!

So I don't think it is a fuse problem as I didn't do anything to the fuses last time to resolve the problem. It can't be a coincidence that this problem occurs after the car is left untouched for 5 days??

Is there anything I can do to force power to the unit or perform some sort of reset so that I can enter the unlock code again.

As per the original problem, the audio/navigation unit isn't working with no power reaching the central unit and the audio navigation system not being referenced on the drivers dash.

    Thanks in advance
