Riga, Gdansk, Madrid or Hamburg?

How important is the beer? If it's very important I would choose one of the northern options. If you want history, culture and excellent food and wine then Madrid is highly recommended
I like Madrid a lot. It may not have the beaches of architecture of Barcelona but I found it to be a much more laid back city.
For good (and cheap) beer, I've had fun trips to Krakow and Warsaw in the last year, both of which have a vibrant microbrewery scene. Krakow came out slightly on top as it's a much smaller city and easier to get around while Warsaw is more spread out.0
