I got my monthly pc fault phone call this week which I decided to play along with for my own entertainment. My caller politley introduced himeself as Mike albeit in a heavy Indian accent informing me that my Windows PC has showed signs of virus infection. Did I receive his email that day with this information if not then the virus was in my system, long story short he got me to call up the run box and type in "EVENTVWR" which is the Event viewer which he spelt out phonectically 3 times actually until I got it right (silly me). This list all threats, errors ect and can cause concern to the uninformed but in most is all can be ignored, anyway with me not wanting to actually get to this viewer and throwing my spanner into his instruction he asked if I was mucking him about, my reply " I am an I.T. engineer now F... off.

Hows that a new take?0 -
I've had a few calls lately which i think is a scam, I just hung up.
They were a recorded message to my landline to say someone was sending me a text. Then went on to say press 1; 2; 3; 4 etc if i wanted to know what it was, or didn't want to know; or if i wanted to know more about sending txts to landline.
I can't think of anyone i know who'd want to text me on my landline, or even if you can do it. When they want me they can talk, or txt my mobile.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
What it may grow to in time, I know not what.

Are you with BT by any chance? I had about a dozen of these a week for 2 weeks, on one occasion I caught the call rather than it leaving a message on my answerphone, it starts off by announcing it's BT calling about a problem I'd reported (which I had done) but if you have an answerphone taking the call that part will be cut out.
You can get rid of these messages by following up the number to ask them to never leave a text-message on your landline (or mobile) if it does turn out it's BT. The calls are from a really horrible robotic sounding women who sounds as creepy as she does dead-tone and it's pretty hard to make much sense of them, they just want you to know they tried to call which IMO is a waste of time and energy but fairly easy to stop. Not a scam though.0 -
This is an old take on an old scam0

Dood that's not a scam !! Its someone had sent a text to your landline number (maybe by mistake) and when they do that, bt will phone you and an automated voice will read out the text .. Try it yourself, send a text to your landline0 -
It was a new take for me, not had that one before, and my best wind up lasted 21 minutes a couple of years ago I know that may sound sad but I was bored at the time and I got a lot of amusement from it."Imagination is more Important than knowledge"0
