Hello everyone,first post but an avid reader.I recently opened a new tsb club plus ,I'm hoping to get the £125 bonus but I don't want to close my natwest current account.I want however to close my halifax as its only a cash account with a visa electron. My question is can I do this or they only allow current account switch. Thanks

I think you may have missed the TSB switching offer. It may re-appear, so it's worth keeping your ear to the ground. You can switch any current account as along as the bank/building society participates in the CASS. A basic account is a current account. http://www.simplerworld.co.uk/Pages/Banks.aspx

Depends how recent "recently" was? If prior to last Monday then they have until the end of the month to complete the switch I believe?

Thanks for informing me that a cash account is a current account,I never knew.Good to learn new things.

I haven't got the switching T&Cs handy but hopefully you do. I seem to remember your switch needs to complete by the 28th (and some other conditions), so better put your skates on if you think you have a reasonable chance to meet all the T&Cs.

I'm not sure it is. Really depends on what you call a cash account, if it's savings then it's not a current account
