Problem Copying Files Windows 10 solved

On upgrading from XP to Windows 10 you will find that file security has changed and in my case the ownership of files on my system (C:\) drive are mainly captured in folders that are owned by "SYSTEM". If you want to backup these files by using software to synchronize them with a folder on another drive you may well get many missed files. If you then try to copy one of those missed files you may well get the message "You require permission from SYSTEM to make changes to this folder" with the only option at that stage being to quit.
The most published solution to this problem is to change the ownership of the folder that contains the files that you wish to copy, maybe with a warning that changing ownership of system folders may leave them vulnerable to corruption or even crash your system.
If you therefore do not want to change the ownership but still want to copy the file there is a work round. The above message is ambiguous in that it refers to "this folder" implying that it is the folder you are trying to copy from but it is in fact probably referring to the folder you are trying to copy into. So the reason you can't copy the files is because you first copied (or couldn't copy) the restricted folder onto your backup drive along with its ownership and you then can't copy files or folders into the new (copied) folder on your backup drive. So the work round is to change the ownership of the folders on your backup drive or create new ones on the backup drive with the same names as the folders you want to copy (thus leaving the original folders unchanged).
I'm no techy but was stumped on this for quite a time so I hope this makes sense and is helpful.
