Halifax - Sending a cheque by post from abroad for payment into account

Hello!
I have a Halifax bank account, and I am now living abroad. Precisely because of that, I have received a tax repayment from HM Revenue & Customs. I gave them my bank account details, but unfortunately they sent me a cheque.
Now I have called Halifax to ask them for an address I can send the cheque to, so they can pay the money into my account. I was surprised when they told me that this is not possible and that they do not have an address for that.
Any hints what I can do? Many thanks in advance!

Hi ermebp
Is there anyone living here that can deposit it for you?
If you send the cheque to someone here (family/friend),wiyh your bank details, they can simply pop into a branch and do that for you.SPC #36 :staradminx 8.SPC7=£751.10 SPC8=£651.04 SPC9=£843.00 SPC10=£872.76

Hi!
Thanks for your reply! I could ask someone in the UK to do that for me. However, I dislike so much going into a bank branch, that I rather would not ask anybody to do that for me.
In any case, I have just called my local branch (didn't remember that they are open on a Saturday) and it is OK that I send the cheque directly to them by post, including a short letter stating my account number and sort code.
So it is possible after all, problem solved
Sorry for having opened a thread for this, maybe this helps other people in a similar situation.0 -

Yes, I can confirm that this works. A relative of mine routinely pays money into the Halifax by post without any problems.
P.S. I'm amused that you called your branch on a Saturday morning if you didn't remember that they open on Saturdays!0 -
