  • When i go for an interview, how do i explain the gap on my CV? Shall i be honest and tell them i wasn't well for a long time?

Might be worth asking your gp if they can refer you to a low intensity CBT service, it could be very beneficial, there is a growing evidence base to show that CBT can help get the long term unemployed back into work.

    what a load of rubbish.

I'd be honest, tell them you are trying and are looking for a chance, appeal to their maternal instinct.

When i was much younger i worked deadend jobs at warehouses through an agency. Brilliant times, i met great people and had a laugh all day long. Not always the case in skilled jobs, i know..

If you bothered to do even a little research you'd find DKLS is correct. It does make sense, long term unemployment and poor mental health go hand in hand, both as consequence and cause.

Perhaps it's something that might help you red devil?

How will i get a job if no one is responding to my applications? I am trying to figure out for what reason they wouldn't be responding, if not due to my employment gap, but i don't know. It feels as though people aren't willing to give the likes of me a chance. I wish i had some kind of idea as to a self employment opportunity as i would rather this than work for people as searching for work is difficult at the best of times for people, but super difficult when you're a mental health case that people would rather not concern themselves with.

Yeah they are, but sometimes more willing to give the person who would work the hours no one wants to, then someone straight from unemployment who feels they shouldn't have to work for min wage, you've indicated it a couple of times now whether you've edited posts or not that you don't want the considered bottom, and perhaps it seeps through in interviews?? To be self employed you have to be very strong and self motivated I'm afraid. I work 50 hours (not inc overtime) to ensure I bring home more than the minimum wage, which when on my hours were 20 less so nothing comes quite on a plate.

That depends on what kind of hours they would be asking from me. I am more than likely going to have to earn within the minimum wage range anyway, so i am not dismissing it. I think what i meant was i don't want to work earning minimum wage for too long because i would want to either move up or venture down a different avenue to earn more money.

It would be different if i was a few years younger, but i am getting older and want to push forward and find some kind of financial stability. I just need to get my foot in the door and then when i am working, i believe my motivation will return and my work ethic. I have just felt really low in all aspects since being unemployed, but hopefully this all changes soon and i can make progress in my life.

Well at the moment i cannot get an interview, so i haven't even had the opportunity to present myself to a prospective employer yet. I just gotta keep sending them applications and see what happens because with xmas coming it's a bit depressing being unemployed and the weather has matched my mood (or vice versa lol).

What do you do for work, if you don't mind me asking? Have you been working at it a long time?

you really are a delight aren't you, accusing people of being mentally ill?

I don't believe anything the jobcentre does it to help people if you bothered to do some research and you will find its true. Help at the jobcentre went out years ago.
