Dog Rescue Centres
Hi,
Unfortunatley my grandmas elderly dog had to be put down a fortnight ago, and although she says she could never replace her, she would like another dog as a companion.
i was wondering if anyone could tell me of any rescue centres in the north east, as she mentioned she would like to give a rescue dog a home and i would like to surprise her with it in a couple of weeks.
thanks in advance x

If you must lie, lie in the arms of the one you love. If you must steal, Steal away from bad company. If you must cheat, Cheat death.. and if you must drink, drink in the moments that take your breath away... x

Hi lauric
There's a whole bunch of rescue centres listed here http://www.dogpages.org.uk/nth-east.htm but I think you'll find that any reputable rescue centre would want her to meet the dog prior to rehoming them. Can you take her down to have a wander round and meet a few furry faces?0 -
hey
thanks alot for that, ill go and tell her about it and see if she fancies goin to see it

You could try https://www.oldies.org.uk (sorry- can't do links). They have elderly dogs needing new homes in all areas of the country. An elderly dog might be better for your Grandma - less boistous, less chewing etc.I got a 7 year old dog from this site, they knew her history and her likes/dislikes.0

I would definitely recommend getting in touch with the Oldies... but then I would
Anyway... Please don't surprise her with a dog... let her pick one herself. After all she will have to live with it and what if it's too much for her and it has to go back? It's a lot of stress for a dog to be moved about all the time
Why not show her some of the dogs on the Oldies pages? There are all kinds of dogs, little, medium and big - couch potatos, bouncy 7 year olds and very very needy rescue cases...DFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!
