I was burning movies into the folder in my external hard drive with magical dvd ripper. The wire got pulled out of the hard drive and now the whole "movies" folder won't open and when i try to open it, it freezes the computer for a while and forces the entire hard drive folder to not respond and itunes won't play the files which are in the folder.
Is there any way i can rectify this without losing the entire contents of the folder and if not then is it possible to delete the folder so its not just sitting there on my hard drive unusable.
Thanks Carrie.

My windows explorer kept dying and wouldn't open and I did this...
1. Open command-console (START > RUN > CMD.EXE)
2. enter the command: regsvr32 /u shimgvw.dll
3. enter the command: regsvr32 /u shmedia.dll
and it worked perfectly.0 -
I would imagine that the file you were burning has been corrupted and not closed properly, so Windows is confused when it tries to access anything in the folder.
First thing - DON'T WRITE OR INSTAL ANYTHING on the external drive.
Then you could try a file recovery program such as:
http://www.download3k.com/Install-NT-File-Recovery.html
Instal it on your main hard drive and try and recover your folder on the external, or the individual files. Don't recover them to the external drive. If you have room, recover them to your main hard drive, one at a time if necessary and then copy them out to CD, DVD or some other media if you're short of room on your main hard drive. You don't want to write anything to your external hard drive in case it overwrites the data you're trying to recover.
Good luck!0
