    Great help.

Just set up a Tesco Instant Saver to sort out my next switch from FirstDirect, probably to Yorkshire as it needs 2 dds.

Are there any other instant saver like accounts that can also be setup?

And does anyone know if you could have more than 1 Tesco Instant Saver account as a DD? for example, a seperate Instant Saver, for myself and my partner, a DD on each going to the 1 bank account (assuming bank account being in my name only wouldn't cause a problem with that too).

They are, Instant access savings and Internet Saver.

Midnight Tboy, If you haven't even started to open an account yet, switching to Yorkshire bank probably wont happen (look at the offer end date)
You can only pull money in from a account in your name.

...and totally unnecessarily so, being as Midnight Tboy's questions are answered in his IASA T&Cs (most of them on page 2...in effect the 1st page, being as page 1 is a preamble!) and on their website.
  • Thanks. I DID mean Internet Saver sorry, it was very late :)

The tesco direct debit should show up in a few days according to search results from others asking how long for it to show (even if not necessarily withdrawn from)

I did just try linking my paypal account to this bank instead....however the verification code they sent just says "PAYPAL CODE PAYPAL CODE" so no number to verify it grrrrr

As for the yorkshire bank, I still thought likely enough time, it says 18 days left. If they show up in next few days should be able to start the process, and I presume the countdown is based on when you apply rather than when it's completed. But of course if end up too late, I'll just hop onto the next one.

Will be glad to be rid of this First Direct account tho....their website is by far worst I've used so far

Edit : just reread and spotted you say you can have multiple Internet Saver accounts. Thats brill, I'll do that then....2 of them under my own name, problem solved :)

Multiple Direct Debits/Different D.D Mandates can be set up from same I.S account to pull from Santander or anywhere else, using different variations of account name.

    e.g

    Mickey Mouse

    Ms M Mouse

Yeah....create that we can do this. My main account is santander, 2nd account Halifax that I bounce money back and forth beginning of every month, 3rd account is the one I tend to hop. Have 2 credit cards that I use direct debits for on the Halifax one so this is ideal as I can move those direct debits back to my main account, meaning I don't have to keep trying to work out how much I need to make sure is in that account for it to clear.

Little stumbling block, tried to applied for the other Tesco account, the Instant Savings one but said couldn't do it for some reason (noddle report is 5/5 for me at mo - but maybe doesn't like it being done within a period of time from making the last one)

Guess my option is either doing something like a charity donation....or alternatively, try doing the 2 DD's from the same Tesco Internet account to the same bank account, and hope that it's accepted (for the Halifax one at least - as worst case lose a fiver that month while trying)

Only concern with the latter, is based on the other reports where some people didn't seem to get it that way

gocardless.com can be used for limitless DDs. There's a small charge, I think 1% of transaction value. I.e. a £1 DD costs 1p.

I m pretty sure Halifax require minimum two direct debits from different originators. (Different Organisations)

I have just started using Go Cardless after seeing it mentioned by Colsten previously.

Tesco Internet DDs from same I.S that I mentioned useful when mixed with other DDs for say Coop who require 4 DDs and dont appear to state DDs must be from different originators

Thanks to both. I'll have to checkout that Gocardless page

I'll figure out an easy low amount DD to keep on the halifax one, then the least amount I need to leave on there with no interest :)

No two direct debits from tesco works fine for me with my Halifax rewards.
  • I'll give it a try - only a fiver to lose one or 2 month worst case :)
