Contents insurance - high risk items

Hello

I am trying to get a contents insurance quote online and am wondering how I would prove the value of my high risk items. DO I need to have all my high risk items valued if they are worth more than, say £1,500? It is such a nuisance to have to go and do that..... are there any insurers that don't require that to be done?

Depends on the items, for stuff you bought and have receipts then it would be easy but for older items that may have been handed down and increased in value then it maybe best to get a proper valuation. Depends if its a unique item or whether its something that pops up for sale often in which case you maybe able to use that for the value.

Some insurers only require valuations for items >£5,000 --- e.g. John Lewis'
Check out the details on the insurers' websites, and the limit may be indicated on comparison website quotes?

Having said that you may need hard evidence of items you own and their worth when submitting a claim regardless of value.
